About Arizona State Hospital
Presented are some of our earliest historical documents regarding the State Asylum for the Insane. Today we call this facility the Arizona State Hospital. It is interesting to note that many of the topics of discussion from 100 years ago still have relevance today. Items including staffing levels, recruitment and retention, and building maintenance and renovation are all realities that continue to be of importance at the hospital. The hospital has made great strides in several areas including patient therapy techniques and implementation, overcrowding, patient quality of life and community reintegration. The hospital continues to be innovative leaders in mental health for the state of Arizona. We anticipate the next 100 years to be filled with hope and promise.
